The programme of Visual Studies has opened my eyes to a variety of artistic practices and profound knowledge of arts and visual cultures.

The programme of Visual Studies has opened my eyes to a variety of artistic practices and profound knowledge of arts and visual cultures, in which I have developed a special interest in the history of Chinese painting. The critical thinking, research and writing skills that I obtained through the integrated curriculum and unique pedagogical strategies of VS set up a solid foundation for me to pursue a higher level of study. I continued my MPhil study in VS where I further improved my research and writing ability and gained great satisfaction serving as a teaching assistant. With the warm support and encouragement from the faculty in VS, I have courage and faith to leave my comfort zone and have a different exposure at the CUHK as a PhD student in the History of Chinese Art. Between 2015 and 2017, I was very grateful to be awarded several scholarships, including the Madeleine Tang Friends Research and Education Fund Award, CUHK Research Postgraduate Student Grants for Overseas Academic Activities, Peter Curzon Oram Charitable Trust Scholarship, Friends Research Grant Awards and Outstanding Paper Award. In 2018, I will have an opportunity to conduct a short-term research visit at the University of Alberta with financial support from the Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence. I look very much forward to the overseas learning and living experience that will undoubtedly enrich my life!
