After my graduation from Lingnan University with a major in Visual Studies and a minor in Marketing, I started my journey in retail and art business industry. Intensive training in research and academic writing in my major studies did not just equip me with broad knowledge in art history and visual culture, but ability to learn independently, communicate effectively and think critically. Working in gallery and technology firms, I applied what I learnt from my undergraduate studies. More importantly, as the concrete experience of sales management nurtured my interest in customer relationship management and data analytics, I pursued a Master’s degree in Information Systems at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with a focus on deep learning for art connoisseurship. Research oriented and self-learning approaches in Visual Studies enabled me to take challenges courageously. With the inter-disciplinary background of Art and Computing, I am now actively investigating how to apply Information Technology to help foster the local art development in online platforms. Thinking beyond the box, learning new things depends on one’s motivation, determination and perseverance─that is the most important thing I learnt from Visual Studies in Lingnan. I am very much looking forward to sharing the new progress of our platform with you all later in the future.
