Around 700 new Taught Postgraduate Students celebrated the beginning of their studies at Lingnan University

The Division of Graduate Studies (DGS) organized the Orientation for Taught Postgraduate Students on 25 August 2018 to welcome new members of the Lingnan family. The number of new students this year hits a record high of more than 700 students with a 40% increase comparing to the figures in 2017. The new students from 10 countries around the world celebrated the beginning of their studies at Lingnan University at the orientation.

 

In his welcoming remarks, President Leonard K Cheng welcomed the new students on behalf of the University, and wished them a joyful and fruitful new academic year.   Prof Joshua Mok, Vice-President and the Director of DGS, shared with students that Lingnan has been launching new taught postgraduate programmes to meet rising demand for the world in recent two years, including Doctor of Policy Studies (commence in 2019), Master of Arts in International Affairs, Master of Arts in International Higher Education and Management, Master of Science in International and Development Economics, Master of Science in Work and Organisational Psychology, Master of Social Sciences in Comparative Social Policy (International), and Postgraduate Diploma in Business. “This will be your best year to learn and expose yourself and to develop as a better person in your life.” he said.

 

Apart from this orientation, a series of workshops and research activities has been planned to enhance students’ research skills and learning experience throughout the academic year.
