Student Research Enhancement Scheme (SRES)

What is the SRES?

In line with the Strategic Plan of 2016 to 2022, one of the strategic directions is to enhance “Lingnan’s research culture and training, while advocating its scholarly achievements”. The new funding scheme entitled “Student Research Enhancement Scheme” is launched by Division of Graduate Studies (DGS) in January 2017 to support the research training of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate students (both taught postgraduate (TPg) students and research postgraduate (RPg) students).

Based on the research needs, directors of research centres / research programmes could form research teams with undergraduate and/or postgraduate students. Students who are successful matched with research project will become junior research partners and work with our faculty members for research projects. Based upon project leaders’ request, DGS could offer financial support to junior research partners.

How to apply?

The call for application starts at the beginning of each semester, and the projects shall end before the next semester starts. The recent Phase of the Scheme in 2018 started in September, 86 students have been matched with 16 research projects, covering arts and humanities, business studies, economics, political science, and social policy. The matched students have been working with faculty members for the research projects since October 2018. The new call for application will be open in January 2019.
