Required Course (3 credits)
ECO2101 Introduction to Economics*
Elective Courses (12 credits)
Students can choose any other 4 courses with a course letter code “ECO” at 3000- to 4000-level.
*Notes: (i) Students who have taken ECO2101 Introduction to Economics as a part of their programme requirement (e.g. BSocSc non-Economics majors) are required to take another ECO course at the 3000- to 4000-level as a substitute.
(ii) Students who have passed BUS2105 Microeconomics for Business are required to take ECO3202 Intermediate Macroeconomics as a substitute.

The Best Economics Minor Students Awards
The rapid processes of globalisation means that events and situations in regions like Mainland China, Europe and the US may have profound influence on workplaces in our home society. The Minor in Economics provides the fundamentals for good decision-making in activities ranging from consumption to production in all professions and industries, and the skills and knowledge on how to deal with conflicts between interest groups. It also helps students understand how his/her chosen profession fits into the profound intensifying global network of economic and financial relationships.
The BSocSc Programme Office coordinates the offering of the Minor in Economics.
Students who are not enrolled in a Discipline Major in Economics of BSocSc Programme may qualify for a Minor in Economics after successful completion of 15 credits (five courses) as detailed below:

About Minor Programmes
The Best Economics Minor Students Awards
To encourage non-economics major undergraduate students to choose economics as their minor programme, the Department of Economics established “The Best Economics Minor Students Awards” for Lingnan full-time non-Economics undergraduate students who have obtained/expected to obtain average GPA3.33 (B+) or above in at least three economics courses (9 credits) offered by Department of Economics in Term 1 each academic year. Selection of the awardees shall be based on excellent academic performance and students may be invited to attend interviews. There shall be up to two awards per year and the value of each award will be up to HK$3,000.
