Message from the Head of Department

I am delighted to introduce the Master of Accountancy Programme (MIBF) offered by the Department of Accountancy.  The MIBF is primarily designed to provide a high-quality postgraduate level education to meet the needs of the Hong Kong community and increasing demands from Mainland China in accounting, auditing, and tax executives and for the leaders of tomorrow.

Lingnan University is the liberal arts university in Hong Kong with the longest history dating back to 1888 its original founding and to 1967 its re-establishment in Hong Kong. In 2015, Lingnan University was named as one of the “Top 10 Liberal Arts College in Asia” by Forbes.  The Department of Accountancy, under the Faculty of Business, is dedicated to educating next generation of accountants and business professionals in the distinctive liberal arts environment of Lingnan University. Our department was ranked 38th and 70th in the world respectively in taxation and auditing research in the survey conducted by Brigham Young University. Our department’s academic staff have regularly published their research in top-tier or major refereed journals, in addition to dedication to teaching and service.

The MIBF Programme has been recognized and accredited by all major professional accounting bodies, including the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), CPA Australia, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ICMA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).   In addition, our Department is part of the Faculty of Business, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an organization that only accredits top five percent of business schools worldwide.
