January 17-21, 2019: MIDE New Opportunities in the Belt and Road Countries (Singapore and Malaysia) Study Tour

The design of this programme allows students to explore the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries and various bay areas in future development.



The MIDE Study Tour spent five days and four nights in Singapore, and Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. In these cities, students visited IMF-Singapore Regional Training Institute (STI), International Zheng He Society, Nanyang Technological University, Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce to gain the first hand experience and information. Students also visited Country Garden Johor in Johor Bahru, Xiamen University Malaysia Campus which considered as early success of the BRI.


MIDE Study Tour visited the IMF-Singapore Regional Training Institute (STI).


MIDE Study Tour invited Professor Sabrina Luk Ching Yuen as the guest speaker.

The teaching purpose of MIDE Programme is to equip students with a deeper understanding of the economy in the BRI and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. It also help students discover difficulties and solutions in various projects.

Students from Study Tour indicates that the tour provided a unique experience and helped students in understanding the process of the BRI projects and policies and culture.
