2023年9月21日至24日，嶺南大學全球數字經濟與治理工商管理博士（簡稱“DBA in GDEG”）項目第三期學員在嶺南大學校園及深圳舉辦了他們的開學儀式暨專題討論工作坊1的課程。
次日上午，在中國移動國際公司以及Web3.0的大力支持與協助下，項目辦公室很榮幸地邀請到了中國移動國際公司平臺業務部總經理、Web 3.0協會應用推廣委員會副主席紀涌博士，以及香港港專學院網絡空間科技學院院長、中化國際科學交流基金會區塊鏈技術工作組專家丁勇教授爲新生們講授了Web 3.0技術在香港的發展、行業應用以及香港在Web 3.0領域的優勢等內容。學員們受益匪淺，當中也不乏有接觸過Web 3.0的行內人士，課後亦與兩位專家進行了深入交流探討。
下午，第三期學員的開學儀式正式在嶺南大學王忠秣演講廳召開。嶺南大學副校長及研究生院院長莫家豪教授、嶺南大學商學院院長冷明明教授皆到場參會幷向新生致歡迎辭。清華大學社會科學學院院長彭凱平教授亦在綫上致辭，共同祝願第三期DBA學員擁有一段愉快的學習之旅，順利畢業，事業蒸蒸日上。這是自兩地恢復通關以來的第一次在嶺大校園內舉辦的綫下開學儀式，可以說是來之不易。因此，除本届新生外，也有不少往届的DBA學員前往現場「補回」開學典禮。其中，首期代表姜鏹同學與第二期代表張衛平同學上臺爲新生致辭。在儀式的尾聲，作爲壓軸嘉賓出場的兩位顧問專家爲同學們進行了主旨演講。銅紫荊勛章受勛者林家禮博士首先向學員們分享了他對數字經濟行業的看法願景，幷介紹及展望了香港在推動大灣區乃至世界數字經濟發展上的作用。林教授是DBA項目的9位顧問委員之一，他是時任聯合國亞洲及太平洋經濟社會委員會 (UN ESCAP) 可持續發展企業網絡 (ESBN) 主席。最後，清華大學五道口金融學院經濟學博士，現任國務院發展研究中心金融研究所副所長、研究員陳道富博士爲同學們分享了他對數字經濟的個人獨到觀察，引發同學們的熱烈討論。當晚，新生與商學院代表一同參與歡迎晚宴。
中國的數字化進程越來越快，希望第三期DBA學子能在未來三年的學習之旅中掌握行業最新知識，幷將其得以應用，在數字化的浪潮中繼續站穩自己的步伐。DBA in GDEG項目也會繼續秉持項目開辦使命, 爲學員打造堅實的理論和實踐基礎，培養實用商業和管理領域的探究能力，爲成爲未來産業領袖奠定基礎。
From September 21st to 24th, 2023, the third cohort of the Doctor of Business Administration in Global Digital Economy and Governance (DBA in GDEG) programme at Lingnan University commenced their academic journey with an inaugural ceremony and the Residential Workshop I, held both on campus and in Shenzhen.
The workshop was inaugurated by Professor LAM Tak Ming, the programme director, who along with the programme office staff extended a warm welcome to the new students. This was followed by a series of ice-breaking activities led by Ms Cherry MOK, an experienced psychological counselor and trainer, fostering camaraderie among the cohort. The afternoon was dedicated to a visit to Farm66 Investment Ltd. located in Hong Kong Science Park, where students learned about the amalgamation of digital technology with agriculture and its implications in the ESG field.
The subsequent day was marked by insightful sessions on Web 3.0 technology, facilitated by Dr. JI Yong, General Manager of Platform Business Department of China Mobile International and Vice Chairman of Application Promotion Committee of Institute of Web 3.0 Hong Kong, and Professor DING Yong, Dean of Cyber Space Technology College of Hong Kong Polytechnic College. The students gained valuable knowledge about the development and application of Web 3.0 technology in Hong Kong.
The opening ceremony for the third cohort was held at Ben C. M. Wong Lecture Theatre at Lingnan University. Esteemed attendees including Professor Joshua MOK Ka-Ho, Vice President and Dean of School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University, and Professor LENG Mingming, Dean of Faculty of Business of Lingnan University graced the occasion with their presence. Professor PENG Kaiping, Dean of School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University also addressed the gathering virtually. This event marked the first on-site inaugural ceremony at Lingnan campus since the resumption of cross-border traffic between China Mainland and Hong Kong, making it a significant milestone. As a testament to its importance, several DBA students from previous cohorts also attended to partake in this long-awaited moment. Representatives from the first and second cohorts, Mr JIANG Qiang and Mr ZHANG Weiping respectively, took to the stage to share words of wisdom with their juniors. The ceremony concluded with insightful keynote speeches by two distinguished guests, of which the first was delivered by Dr. Lee George LAM, BBS. He shared his insights on the digital economy industry. He also discussed Hong Kong’s pivotal role in fostering digital economic growth in the Greater Bay Area and globally. Dr. LAM, an Advisory Board member of DBA in GDEG Programme, is currently the Chair of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Sustainable Business Network (ESBN). The final address was delivered by Dr. CHEN Daofu, an economics PhD from Tsinghua University's Wudaokou School of Finance and currently Deputy Director and Researcher at the Financial Research Institute of the State Council Development Research Center. His unique perspective on digital economy sparked a lively discussion among attendees. The day’s events culminated in a welcome dinner attended by both freshmen and representatives from the Faculty of Business.
During the final two days of the workshop, the students visited several government departments and leading enterprises in the Greater Bay Area's digital economy and governance field. These included the Shenzhen Tax Service of State Taxation Administration, the Shenzhen Tax Adviser Association, Ping An Group, Microsoft China, and the China Resources Group.
As China's digitization process accelerates, it is hoped that third cohort DBA students can grasp latest industry knowledge during their three-year learning journey ahead and apply it effectively to stand firm amidst waves of digitization. The DBA in GDEG programme will continue to uphold its founding mission to provide students with solid theoretical foundation and practical skills training to cultivate their exploratory abilities in practical business management field laying foundation for becoming future industry leaders.
