Student Visa

Non-local students studying in Hong Kong are required to apply for student visas. Details of the entry arrangement are set out in Immigration Department's website.

Visa Application Form

Should your application for our master's degree programme be successful, an offer pack containing a visa application form and instructions will be sent to you. The visa application form can also be downloaded from the Immigration Department's website. The completed visa application form together with supporting documents should be returned to us for our handling.

Visa Label

Once your visa application is approved, we will collect the visa label and send it to you by courier.

Visa Application Fee

An visa application fee of HKD400 (for 2024/25) will be charged for each visa application, which covers the fee payable to the Immigration Department. The visa application fee should be paid together with the first instalment of tuition fee and is non-refundable and non-transferable regardless of the visa application result, which is at the discretion of the Immigration Department.

Accommodation

On-campus Residence - Student Hostels

Limited hostel places are available to non-local students of Taught Postgraduate (TPg) degree programmes. Information of hostels is available in the Office of Student Affairs's website.

Invitation to apply for hostels will be sent to you by Programme Teams via email. You are advised to check your email regularly.

Off-campus Residence

Private rental accommodation is available in close proximity to the University. Monthly rental will depend on the size, location and type of accommodation. Non-local students may consider sharing a flat with a few roommates. Information on private rental accomodation will be provided by Programme Teams.

Off-campus hostel places at Jao Tsung- I Academy (JTIA) - Heritage Lodge
Triple shared and Twin shared room type are available at off-campus hostel places at Jao Tsung-I Academy (JTIA) Heritage Lodge. If students are interested to live in Heritage Lodge, please contact your programme officers for more details.

Staying in HK after Graduation

Graduates of full-time TPg programmes can apply to stay in Hong Kong for 24 months after graduation under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG), subject to meeting of the eligibility criteria. Details are available in the Immigration Department's website.

Part-time Jobs

Starting from November 1 2023, full-time non-local postgraduate students would be temporarily exempted from the restrictions on taking up part-time jobs. The arrangement will be implemented on a trial basis for two years. For details, please refer to the Immigration Department's website.
