LU-HKSTP Gerontechnology Symposiusm: Promoting Integrated Gerontech Solutions for Better Elderly Living

 

To promote cross-sectoral dialogues in adopting technology appropriate for smart ageing and value creation of integrated Gerontech solutions for a better elderly living (institutional care & ageing-in-place),  Lingnan University (LU Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing Project from Asia Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies, School of Graduate Studies and Institute of Policy Studies) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) co-organised the Integrated Gerontech Solutions for Better Elderly Living: Institutional Care & Ageing-in-Place Symposium on 26-April 2022. About 200 participants from diverse sectors joined this half-day event. The event also provided an excellent platform for Lingnan’s academics and students to explore further how integrated Gerontech solutions are designed and deployed in the ageing society to enable better elderly living and explore and develop research projects.

 

With a special focus on discussing the development and value creation of integrated Gerontech solutions for better elderly living, especially from the residential care and ageing-in-place perspectives, this half-day event offered great learning and research opportunities for Lingnan University students, enriching their experiential learning experiences. Students from gerontechnology, smart ageing and health-related programmes were invited to share their academic research (poster design) with the theme of healthcare management and practices of using technology at this Gerontechnology symposium. The academic posters presented at the event showcase students’ effective integration of theory and practice, the interactions with different stakeholders from the diverse gerontechnology and social care sectors further inspire students to venture into the Gerontechnology field in promoting productive ageing in Hong Kong and beyond.
