Faculty members of the Department of Government and International Affairs possess diverse academic backgrounds and expertise. They have extensive teaching and research experiences in their fields.
Staff involved in teaching the MAIA programme currently conduct research with diverse projects, including political economy of global inequality, global environmental governance, China's grand strategy and Sino-US security relations, China's One Belt, One Road, grievances and governance of China’s ethnic minorities, Chinese cyber nationalism, Chinese village governance, politics of democratization and identities in Hong Kong, Hong Kong legislative and judicial politics, sports politics of the Greater China, civil society and governance, contentious politics, politics of corruption and others.
Staff have conducted commissioned consultancy projects for Hong Kong and international public bodies including the Central Policy Unit of Hong Kong government, the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the European Union.
Staff have regularly organized and/or attended academic conferences and workshops and/or given public lectures to present their latest research and have dialogue with experts in their subject areas. Several staff have been often interviewed by local and international media to share their views and analyses on international and regional affairs issues.

Institutional supports
Lingnan’s Department of Government and International Affairs contributes to the activities of the social science-related research centres at the university as well as cooperate with the Public Governance Programme (PGP). Lingnan research centres hold academic workshops and conferences throughout the year. Research centres are constantly examining timely topics that warrant further studies and aim to use workshops, seminars, and conferences as a medium to facilitate the exchange of ideas between Hong Kong scholars and their international counterparts. The MAIA students are encouraged to participate in these centres’ activities and they will benefit from such participation.
The School of Graduate Studies at Lingnan also regularly holds seminars specifically for all Lingnan postgraduate students. Many of these seminars are on topics of social sciences research methodologies.
The Lingnan Library has long been the hub of academic activities in Lingnan. It houses more than 500,000 volumes of books, bound journals and audio-visual materials. The core collections cover various areas of our liberal arts curriculum, including arts and humanities, social sciences, and business studies. The Library has introduced a wide range of electronic services, such as online full-text databases, CD-ROMs, wireless LAN and different types of automatic alert services. A one-stop service for reference, information technology and multimedia services support are provided.
Lingnan’s library system is connected to the campus-wide network and is able to provide our students with better services for accessing of knowledge inside and outside campus 24 hours a day.
Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) strives to provide state-of-the-art Information Technology (IT) support for Lingnan University to achieve its goal of becoming a liberal arts university of international standing. To enhance teaching and learning, ITSC helps heighten the effectiveness of the educational delivery system and foster a better environment for teaching and learning through innovative use of IT, including e-Learning and e-Portfolio systems. Through ITSC and campus computers labs, which are connected to a campus-wide network, students can get access to the network 24 hours a day.
