Prof Winnie Poon
, Associate Professor in the Department of Finance and Insurance, was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal (華爾街日報) on Chinese bond market and credit-rating industry in an article, “In China, Not All Triple-A-Rated Bonds Are Created Equal”, published on 22 October 2020.
Organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies (HKIBS), Lingnan University, the 2019 AIBSEAR Conference, with the theme of “US-China Trade War, Deglobalization, and International Business”, was held during December 5-7, 2019 at the Radisson Blu, Cebu, Philippines. José Rizal University, as a local host, supported the 2019 AIBSEAR Regional Conference as a tribute to its 100th’s Anniversary. The conference had, three keynote speakers, 19 sessions and 60 paper presentations by scholars from the region and as far as from South Africa. Altogether, we had over 80 participants from 16 countries/cities. Many participants have given very positive feedback and indicated their desire to return.
Call for Paper: The 2019 Academy of International Business (AIB) Southeast Asia Regional Conference is organized by AIBSEAR during 5-7 December 2019, in Cebu, Philippines. The theme of the 2019 AIBSEAR Cebu Conference is “US-China Trade War, Deglobalization, and International Business”. In particular, this year’s high quality papers will be invited to submit to a Special Issue of the Journal of Business Research relating to “Bridging the gap between theory and practice in international business: Addressing management challenges”.
Organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies (HKIBS), Lingnan University, the 2018 AIBSEAR Conference, with the theme of “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Emerging Markets”, was held during December 6-8, 2018 at the L’hotel et Nina Convention Centre, Hong Kong. In particular, 2018 AIBSEAR Regional Conference has been held as a tribute to Lingnan University 50th’s Anniversary of reestablishment in Hong Kong. The conference had, two keynote speakers (from academia and industry on the Entrepreneurship and Innovation), 19 sessions and 55 paper presentations by scholars from the region and as far as from Denmark. Altogether, we had over 60 participants from 17 countries/cities. Many participants have given very positive feedback and indicated their desire to return.
With the ever-growing economic integration between mainland China and Hong Kong, the project team constructed the Chinese mainland-Hong Kong Economic Integration Index as a measurement on economic integration between these two economies. The index is measured on annual basis from 1990 to 2016, which aims at providing a quantifiable basis for policy discussion and assessment on social consequences of the integration. This project is funded by the Public Policy Research (PPR) Funding Scheme, Central Policy Unit.
2018 Peihua Workshop:
Lingnan's HKIBS organised “The 12th Seminar for the Representatives of the Minority Nationalities Autonomous Prefectures in China” from 16 to 27 August, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation. The two-week programme was conducted for a group of 40 representatives from 26 provinces, cities or counties in Mainland China.
Prof Cui Geng
recently publishes a research article in the
Journal of Business Research
. He argues that the effect of adding positive reviews and deleting negative reviews on sales exhibits an inverted U-curve and weak brands suffer morefrom excessive adding. He proposes a novel method that deals with this issue and outperforms the competing methods in maximising profit.
Prof Li Jingyuan
recently publishes a research article in
Insurance: Mathematics and Economics
. He proposes a method to construct confidence interval for expectation dependence, a concept of dependence that is used in many economic and financal studies. His work has implications to the analyses of risky asset and risk aversion problems.
Prof Liu Liming
recently publishes a research article in the
European Journal of Operational Research
. He investigates the effect of information updating in a supply chain with spot market. In contrast to the previous findings, he finds that improved demand information may not benefit the supplier in some situations, while superior spot price information benefits the manufacturer and hurts the supplier. His study helps the supplier to choose the best contract channel and the information updating facility.
