always cannot access to Lingnan Homepage in school Please contact the ITSC helpdesk when you encounter the problem.
Better network system in computer lab like in mb412 and NAB computer lab! It is too slow to connect and computer always break down. On the other hand, printer always out of service in mb 412! We try to call vendor services as soon as we found printer failure. In general, the vendor could come to fix the problem in the same day, but sometimes, replacement of parts are required which need to wait for the next working day (subject to the availability of parts). We also constantly remind students to properly use the printers and to keep the printers in a good condition.

The WiFi range did not cover the road area between the canteen and the new hall WHC. It is really a trouble to log on the WiFi on my phone again just because of crossing a road.... The road between AM and SEK is public area. We are not allowed to provide WiFi service in public area due to the telecom regulations of HKSAR.

I HOPE MORE COMPUTERS ARE BE SET UP AROUND THE CAMPUS ITSC will consider this request. At present, there are over 570 computers installed in the language labs, teaching labs and student computer labs around campus. Library also provides another 60 computers in library area. The no. of computers in each computer lab is restricted to the minimum usable area requirement for each seat. Currently the no. of computers already at its maximum capacity in the computer labs at this moment. ITSC will consider this request and will convey the issue to relevant departments or committee to consider.
I hope that ITSC can provide double-side Quota print services in the 1st floor of the library, instead of using Octopus only. Will discuss with Library for the feasibility.
I think that ITSC can buy some packet WiFi router for the exchange students. Some of them tell me that they want to use their pads or notebooks away from the campus in Hong Kong. ITSC always searching for new services, however, implementation of new services requires a lot of considerations (e.g. compatibility, cost effectiveness).
I think the WiFi should be more accessible. The WiFi system of southern/northern hostel and campus was built in 2007 and 2008 respectively. It was not planned for high density WiFi connections since there were dom smartphones or tablets in use during that time. Therefore, the system may not be able to handle all connections during peak Wi-Fi usage and results in sluggish or unstable connections. For long term resolution, a Hostel WiFi upgrade project which is funded by UGC will be carried out in 2013-2014. The project involves the setup of high density WiFi services at the southern and northern Hostels. The first phase of the project may be started in Dec 2013. For the Campus WiFi System, a similar proposal is submitted to UGC for the high density WiFi setup. For short term resolution, additional WiFi access points have been installed in the Canteen and in the Common Area of hostel A and B. Similar works will be carried out in hostel C, D, E and F.
ILP bearing IT courses such as teaching Photoshop, premiere pro etc. ILP provide classes on MS Office products, network security and multimedia productions using Photoshop are currently provided. New on-line self learning materials will be procured to enrich the ILP content. (e.g. MS-Access, Mobile Security…etc.).
Installing computers and printers in the new study room locating at the new student hostel As Hostel facilities is budgeted and approved by Student Hostels Management Committee. Will pass on the request to related parties.
IPad ITSC always searching for new services, however, implementation of new services requires a lot of considerations (e.g. compatibility, cost effectiveness). Currently, we provide notebook on loan services to students and staff via Library on loan counter service.
lend iPad to students for learning ITSC always searching for new services, however, implementation of new services requires a lot of considerations (e.g. compatibility, cost effectiveness). Currently, we provide notebook onloan services to students and staff via Library onloan counter service.
may be a platform for uploading files and homework Moodle does not support mobile upload of assignment.
may be creating an apps? ITSC will investigate the possibility.
may be more IT product promotion ITSC is not in an appropriate position to introduce any brands to our staff and students. However, IT resellers could always contact CO for renting a promotion booth for product sales.
Mobile application for Lingnan Will study the feasibility.
mobile phone discount ITSC helps organize the notebook ownership programme for student each year as notebook is essential for studying in the university. We have explored the opportunity for mobile phone discount for Lingnanians, however, due to severe competition of the market, the vendor cannot provide competitive price like the one in Notebook Ownership program.
More computer There are over 570 computers installed around the campus, including language lab, teaching lab and student computer lab. Library also provides another 60 computers in library area. The no. of computers in each computer lab is restricted to the minimum usable area requirement for each seat. Currently the no. of computers already at its maximum capacity in the computer labs at this moment. ITSC will consider this request and will convey the issue to relevant departments or committee to consider.

more printers installed for students Under consideration. Currently, at each computer lab, ITSC deployed at least one multi-function printer copiers. However, at most three printers can be accommodated in each location due to the limitation of air quality requirement in closed areas.
More printers located not only in library, 24, and AM. At each computer lab, ITSC deployed at least one multi-function printer copier, at most three. We are also in discussion with Library to provide some printing services (manned by SU) in AM. However, max 3 printers can be accommodated in each location due to the limitation of air quality requirement in closed areas.
more stable WiFi connection The WiFi system of southern/northern hostel and campus was built in 2007 and 2008 respectively. please improve the WiFi service first before consider new services The WiFi system of southern/northern hostel and campus was built in 2007 and 2008 respectively. ITSC will consider this request and will convey the issue to relevant departments or committee to consider. Stand alone scanner service is provided by Library. Students can consider to use the ""Scan to email"" service provided by octopus printers located in computer labs.
Printing Quota of 3000 per student Like CityU Printing service by using the student ID card and choose wherever the printer is close to me but not by designating printer Need further investigate the possibility. At present, $10 print quota will be provided to every student, while some of the local universities do not provide any free quota for student printing.
Printing the document via personal tablet or notebook directly, do not need to use the computers in school for printing Due to security concern and technical limitation, wireless printing is not currently available. ITSC will continue to sort out new possibilities with the printer vendors.
provide the name and version of "mobile phone" browser which support the intranet and library website Portal should support most browsers for mobile phones, please contact the helpdesk for instruction on how to connect LU Intranet and Library.

Providing headphone ITSC provides headphones for leading in MB412 computer lab.
Should put more afford on training the student helper which enhance the ability of them to help others solving the technical problems. We have provided trainings for our student helpers to handle daily operations and common problems (e.g. WiFi connection for mobile device, refilling printer papers). ITSC will provide more advanced trainings for them to catch up with the latest technology. Students could always contact ITSC staff via the hotline or email.

there should be someone who can stay in MB412 computer lab over day and night because there are dangerous if no one is there!!!!!!!!!! Security guard is always available when calling the Security Office. Surveillance cameras are also operated 24 hours and security office will keep monitoring from time to time.

提供更低價的自帶紙打印服務。在課室電腦設置鏈接,及時在線反饋電腦小問題。 ITSC always searching for new services, however, implementation of new services requires a lot of considerations (e.g. feasibility, compatibility, cost effectiveness). good, none Thanks
Hostel network problem cannot be solved as ITSC cannot provide 24hour/full week support. Because of limited resources, currently there are ITSC helper on duty at Hall B, E and WHC. ITSC will consider to recruit more ITSC helper for the IT Support Clinic.
I appreciate the help of the ITSC's staff. I failed to connect to the school's WiFi because the setting was needed. The staff immediately settled the mobile setting for me. Thanks Thanks
I found CityU has provided free Office for its students and staffs every year. Does ITSC in Lingnan has this kind of service? Under consideration. Since Microsoft charges for each student license on MS Office, no matter the students use it or not, ITSC needs to seek for the required budget from the University.

ITSC will provide more advanced trainings for them to catch up with the latest technology. Students could always contact ITSC staff via the hotline or email.
It'd better to train the staff more, really. ITSC always encourages our staff to attend training on recent products and technologies, and regular courses on popular software applications are open for staff as well as students.
ITSC should have more meetings with the hostel: not only maximum once per one or one and a half month. Students can anytime contact ITSC using email/hotline, not limited to regular meetings. We emphasis on the communication with students.
ITSC should provide more notebooks for lend. Will convey the comment for more notebook on-loan service to Library as the service is under Library.

more student helper is needed, especially in the computer room in WHC Computer room and self-study room in SEK is under the management of Comptroller Office including the recruitment of student helpers on duty there. We will pass on your request to CO for consideration.
Need to consider the maintenance of WiFi service within the campus. For the hostel in North, the WiFi always cannot connect well. The WiFi system of southern/northern hostel and campus was built in 2007 and 2008 respectively. It was not planned for high density WiFi connections since there were seldom smartphones or tablets in use during that time. Often cannot login successfully to outlook webmail. Also, some links shown in the mail cannot be opened directly, can only be opened by copying and pasting the links in new tabs. I suggest using Gmail instead Is it about Live@edu ? Office 365 provides better interface than Live@edu did.
On loan Multimedia/ AV equipment should have larger quantities as the demand is always larger than the supply, and many of the students could not enjoy the services provided by ITSC Thank you for your message and we will consider your suggestion. In Year 2012-2013, additional portable PA system, notebook and digital video camcorder were available for loan. ITSC will keep on review the demand on multimedia / AV equipment.
Overall, I satisfied with ITSC Services. Thanks
Please make the front page more professional and the searching service is not very good. Moreover, it is hard to find different sections in intranet. It is OCAP who manages and commits to the design of the Lingnan Homepage.
printers at library and 24 are not always work well We will further look into the matter and try to call vendor services as soon as we found printer failure. In general, the vendor could come to fix the problem in the same day, but sometimes, replacement of parts are required which need to wait for the next working day (subject to the availability of parts). We also constantly remind students to use the printers in a more proper way so as to keep the printers in a good condition.
provide more money of the printing account ITSC always searching for new services, however, implementation of new services requires a lot of considerations (e.g. compatibility, cost effectiveness). Each year, $10 print quota will be provided to every student, while some of the local universities do not provide any free quota for student printing.
Providing more training for students to understand the IT products. ILP provide classes on software like MS Office , network security and multimedia productions (e.g. Photoshop). E-learning materials provide online learning performs to topics that are not covered by ILP (e.g. access). More CBT courses for Information Security and Mobil Computing will be included in ILP as on line self learning.
Set up some computer rooms around the campus, especially in the four academic buildings Under consideration. ITSC always searching for new services, however, implementation of new services requires a lot of considerations (e.g. feasibility and security).
Should not allow student use their belonging to hold the seat in the MB412, otherwise, it must ban when they enter to MB412 Will consider further enforcement possibility. Notices have been posted in the computer labs to remind students not to leave their belongings unattended for security reason and fair use of facilities. Students are supposed to be self-discipline.
thanks Thanks
The IT class should have more session and can teach more other things like programming and database which may be useful for career. ILP provide classes on MS Office products, network security and multimedia productions (e.g. Photoshop). E-learning materials provide online learning performs to topics that are not covered by ILP (e.g. access). We also plan to include more CBT trainings on mobil computing and information security.
The items should confiscate if they use their belonging to hold the seat Will consider further enforcement possibility. ITSC and CO (security) work together periodically to clean up those belongings left unattended in the computer labs .
the printers are always out of order, can ITSC repair the printers as soon as possible? We try to call vendor services as soon as we found printer failure. In general, the vendor could come to fix the problem in the same day, but sometimes, replacement of parts are required which need to wait for the next working day (subject to the availability of parts). We also constantly remind students to use the printers in a more proper way so as to keep the printers in a good condition.
the soft phone service could be more user-friendly The soft phone is integrated with the University IP Phone system thus it is required to have basic configuration to be connected. After the IP phone system has been upgraded in Aug 2013, ITSC will introduce a new softphone which is more user friendly and provides better user experience.
The Softphone worked poorly when I was in the US. I could not hear a sound and the call got cut off all the time. The voice quality of soft phone depends on the Internet bandwidth quality. Soft phone users should have good experience when they connect to a good Internet connection. After the IP phone system has been upgraded in Aug 2013, ITSC will introduce a new softphone which is more user friendly and provides better user experience.
The speed of the WiFi on the campus can be improved. The WiFi system of southern/northern hostel and campus was built in 2007 and 2008 respectively. It was not planned for high density WiFi connections since there were seldom smartphones or tablets in use during that time.

There should be more advertisement or notices on the ITSC Hostel clinic letting more students know about how it works and they can easily find staff to help them technically. ITSC will send email to students and post poster at Hostels to introduce the Hostel Clinic.
there should be someone who can stay in MB412 computer lab over day and night because there are dangerous if no one is there!!!!!!!!!! Security guard is always available when calling the Security Office. Surveillance cameras are also operated 24 hours and security office will keep monitoring from time to time.
WiFi 好左 Thanks
在更多課室布置感應筆,做Presentation的時候學生經常要站到銀幕前,現有布置不方便在銀幕前翻頁。 多謝同學的意見,ITSC會考慮於合適的課室安裝互動感應筆。
