Prof Cheng praised Dr Chan’s valuable and selfless contributions to Lingnan as a member of the Council, the Court and many sub-committees, and, in particular, thanked him for supervising the construction of LU’s Tuen Mun campus when he was Chairman of the Campus Development and Management Committee in the 1990s.

Dr Chan said big data has been increasingly influential in business of all scales, and it is certainly important for young people to learn information technology. He hopes students will enjoy the new Learning Resources Centre and make the most of the Data Science Programme.
