LU and Shandong University of Science and Technology organise Joint Staff-Student Geology Forum

To foster academic exchanges between local and Mainland faculties and students, and to enhance students’ understanding of and interest in geology, the Science Unit and the College of Earth Science and Engineering of the Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST) organised a Joint Staff-Student Geology Forum on 16 December 2021.

 

The forum was opened with speeches by Prof Mark McGinley, Head of the Science Unit, and Prof Yin Huiyong, Associate Dean of the College of Earth Science and Engineering of SDUST, which explaining the teaching and learning philosophies of the two universities.

 

These were followed by an exchange between Science Unit Lecturer Dr Helen Geng and Prof Mao Guangzhou, SDUST Professor of the College of Earth Science and Engineering, on the pedagogies of their geology courses.

 

During the discussions, students learnt more about the geology teaching and learning of both institutions, and engaged to share their own views on and expectations of the programme and course.

 

The forum not only encouraged cross-border academic exchanges between Hong Kong and the Mainland, but also paved the way for increased collaboration between the two universities.
