LU launches social engagement project recycling clothes towards ethnic minorities

To recycle the many unclaimed clothes from laundries, Lingnan University, the Sunshine Laundry Factory Co. Ltd, FutureNow, and The Salvation Army Tuen Mun Integrated Service for Young People have organised a social engagement programme called Sunshine Future.

The programme gives the clothes a second life by donating them to young people from ethnic minorities, with a series of personal development workshops designed to teach participants business etiquette, personal grooming, interviewing and presentation skills.

These workshops were sponsored by knowledge incubator G10 World of FutureNow, and held over a month, concluding successfully with Sunshine Future Experience Day, at Lingnan University on 29 May 2022.

The success of this social engagement project was guaranteed by the active participation of Lingnan Anchor, a mentorship programme set up in 2020/21 designed for Lingnan alumni and students with genuine interest in and commitment to the community service sector and/or establishing social enterprises.
