Dinner for Graduating Students 2023

Our Dinner for Graduating Students is a time-honoured tradition at Lingnan University, and this year marks the 25th anniversary of the event. Over 300 guests of the graduating students of the Class of 2023, members of the Council and Court, staff, and alumni attended this year’s renaissance-themed dinner at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers on 16 May 2023.

 

 

In their welcome speeches, Mr Augustine Wong, Deputy Chairman of the Council, and Prof Leonard K Cheng, President of the University, encouraged all graduating students to make good use of the qualities they have enhanced during their liberal arts education, both at work and for society in general. They also urged graduating students to stay in touch with their alma mater. Representatives of Lingnan University Alumni Association (Hong Kong) (LUAA), Lingnan University Undergraduate Alumni Association (LUUAA), and Lingnan University Postgraduate Alumni Association (LUPAA) were invited to speak to the graduating students at the dinner, and exhorted them all to participate actively in alumni activities and events. In this way, graduates have an opportunity to meet each other and build a professional network.

 

This year, Prof Cheng will retire as President of LU, and a farewell was held to give graduates the opportunity to express their thanks for his support and leadership.

 

  

Ringo Wong (BA in Contemporary English Studies (2023)) and Charlie Wan (MSc in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship (2023)) deliver graduation speeches expressing their gratitude for the tremendous resources and support they have received from the University.

 

The dinner holds the Best Dress Award with the theme Renaissance, making the night more joyful.
