Office of Service-Learning receives “Outstanding Partner of Social Enterprise Award”

The Office of Service-Learning (OSL) received the “Outstanding Partner of Social Enterprise Award” under the “Social Enterprise Award Scheme 2017” on 8 November.  

 

The award scheme is co-organised by the Home Affairs Bureau and the Social Enterprise Advisory Committee.  It aims to recognise outstanding social enterprises operating in Hong Kong, share the best practices in the sector and promote their caring culture of “Business for Good” in the community.  OSL was nominated by the Hong Kong Free Methodist Church to participate in the scheme this year.

 

In addition to organising community symposiums and conferences, OSL also supports the development of social enterprises.  It lines up the instructor and students from the course Strategic Management with Fantastic Café of Hong Kong Free Methodist Church, with students offered business analysis and made recommendations by reviewing social issues and applying their classroom knowledge such as value chain analysis, review of business operation cycle, SWOT analysis.  Moreover, OSL and the Department of Management co-offered a summer course Service Leadership Practicum to provide internship opportunities for students to initiate and lead mini-projects at social enterprises to help them enhance their business performance and service quality.
