HKIBS of Lingnan co-hosts the 2018 AIBSEAR Conference
Co-organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies (HKIBS) of Lingnan, the 2018 Academy of International Business Southeast Asia Regional (AIBSEAR) Conference with the theme of “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Emerging Markets” was held from 6 to 8 December at the L’hotel et Nina Convention Centre, Hong Kong. The 2018 AIBSEAR Conference is one of the celebratory events for the 50th Anniversary of Lingnan University’s re-establishment in Hong Kong.
Prof CUI Geng, AIBSEAR Chapter Chairperson, Director of Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies and Professor of Department of Marketing and International Business, Lingnan University and Dr Yingyot CHIARAVUTTHI, Mahidol University International College, Thailand officiated at the Opening Ceremony on 6 December. Vice-President Joshua MOK Ka-Ho gave the welcome remarks during the Welcome Session at Lingnan. President Leonard K CHENG and Prof LIU Liming, Dean of the Faculty of Business attended the Conference Dinner on 7 December. They gave welcome remarks to the participants and presented Best Paper Awards to the recipients during the dinner.
A total of 55 papers were presented in 19 concurrent sessions. The conference assembled over 80 participants and guests from 17 countries / cities: Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK and the USA.
Two renowned guest speakers were invited to give keynote speeches in the Opening Session and Welcome Session. They were Prof Oded SHENKAR, Professor of Management & Human Resources, Fisher College of Business, Ohio State University, USA and Ms Alice SO, Head of Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship Team, Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. The titles of their keynote speeches were “Copycats: Why Imitation is as Important as Imitation” and “Driving Entrepreneurship in Digital Innovation, Integration and Adaptation” respectively.
In addition, Prof Shenkar and Prof Bradley R BARNES, Dean, School of Business, Professor of International Management & Marketing, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong conducted the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS) Paper Development Workshop.
