Science seminar explores smart city and location intelligence

A science seminar “Location Intelligence in Smart City”, organised by the Science Unit, was held on 1 November. It attracted around 100 participants including Lingnan students and staff, as well as the general public.
Mr Paul TSUI, Managing Director of Esri China (Hong Kong) Limited explained the development of information technology and the application of location intelligence in Hong Kong. Through his sharing on an ample international projects on location intelligence developed by Esri, participants grasped the advantages and importance of such a technology, such as instant updates about the on-the-spot operation of public transports, and forecasts of bad weather and natural disasters. In view of building a smart city, Mr Tsui led the audience to think out of the box and try to design location intelligence services that fit their needs.
