Issue No. 83 Dec 2018
As a liberal arts university in Hong Kong, Lingnan University is proud of its history that dates back to the founding of the Christian College in China in Guangzhou in 1888. Re-established in Hong Kong as Lingnan College in 1967, it has perpetuated the Lingnan Spirit with the motto of “Education for Service”. Generations of Lingnanians have devoted relentless efforts to contributing to the alma mater and society. Among them, the late Mr SZTO Wai was the distinguished standout.
The University will organise The Art of Szto Wai Exhibition from 16 to 20 January 2019 at Exhibition Gallery 4-5, Hong Kong Central Library, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Over 50 masterpieces of paintings under Mr SZTO Wai’s exquisite artistry will be showcased. All Lingnanians are cordially invited to attend the exhibition and pay tribute to the late Mr SZTO Wai.
In memory of Mr SZTO Wai’s contribution to Lingnan, the University is now seeking donations to establish the “Szto Wai Art Scholarship” to support the students of the Department of Visual Studies to pursue the study of art. A replica of SZTO Wai’s painting with brocade box will be offered for donation of every HK$1,000 (one-off donation) as a token of appreciation. You may wish to download the donation form and select the replica of Mr SZTO Wai’s paintings here.
