Science seminars explore various factors affecting public health

The Science Unit recently organised two seminars under the Visiting Science Scholar Seminar Series 2019: “Air Pollution Exposure for Active Mode Commuters and the Influence of Urban Transport Infrastructure” and “Intestinal Microbes and Human Health”. Both seminars attracted a full house of audience consisted of Lingnan staff, students and the general public.

 

In her “Air Pollution Exposure for Active Mode Commuters and the Influence of Urban Transport Infrastructure” seminar, Dr. Kim Dirks, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences of the University of Auckland, discussed the transport infrastructure and technologies in Auckland, and the positive and negative impact on human health brought by different transportation and facilities.

 

Dr. Ding Li, Associate Professor of the College of Life Sciences of Hainan Normal University, introduced various types of bacteria inside our bodies and their key functions during the talk “Intestinal Microbes and Human Health”.
