Lingnan University confers Honorary Fellowships upon six distinguished individuals

Lingnan University held its Honorary Fellowship Presentation Ceremony today. Mr Bernard Chan, Council Chairman of the University, presided at the ceremony and conferred honorary fellowships upon six individuals in recognition of their professional achievements and contributions to the community.

The six recipients are:
1.  Ms Chan Yuen-han, Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions
2.  Mr Andrew Fung Hau-chung, General Manager and Head of Treasury & Investment of Hang Seng Bank
3.  Mr Gordon William Ewing Jones, former Registrar of Companies
4.  Mr Shih Wing-ching, Founder and Chairman of Centaline Property Agency Limited and am730
5.  Mr Johnnie To Kei-fung, internationally renowned film director and filmmaker
6.  Mr Carlson Tong, Chairman of KPMG Asia-Pacific

Speaking on behalf of the recipients at the ceremony, Mr Andrew Fung Hau-chung said his first public service appointment outside the financial sector was as a member of the University’s Council. During his period of service from 2003 to 2009, he was deeply impressed by the dedication of the University’s staff and heard many employers praising its graduates for their job commitment and enthusiasm. He was glad to see the continuous improvement in academic standards of Lingnan students, as well as the growing recognition they receive in society. He will continue to actively participate in the development of the University.

Other members of the presiding group included Prof Chan Yuk-Shee, President of the University, and The Rt Reverend Dr Thomas Soo, Bishop of the Diocese of Western Kowloon of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui (Anglican-Episcopal).
