Inquiry Panel releases report on the CCLU and LIFE 2012 admission

10 Jan 2013

Today the Inquiry Panel appointed by the Council of Lingnan University to inquire into and review the operations of the Community College at Lingnan University (CCLU) and Lingnan Institute of Further Education (LIFE) in the admission exercise for 2012-13 released its findings and recommendations.

The Council received and accepted all the recommendations of the Panel Report, which covered various areas of student enrolment, governance, quality assurance, teaching resources planning and scheduling, advanced diploma programmes, further study and career counselling, as well as communication with various parties involved.

The Council expressed its deepest regret on the fact that Associate Vice-President (Academic Quality Assurance) has failed to establish sufficient management control measures. The Council also deeply regretted that the former Dean of Community College and Further Education has made a lot of aggressive decisions on his own initiatives without following the stipulated procedures in the 2012-13 admission exercise of CCLU and LIFE. It is also very disappointed with the Associate Director and former Assistant Director who failed to fully perform their duties as expected.

The President and the University management are tasked to examine and take on board the recommendations of the Panel. It is targeted to present a proposal on the governance structure for CCLU and LIFE as well as implementation plan of various recommendations of the panel report for Council consideration in its meeting in April 2013.
