Lingnan students join entrepreneurial training and internship in Shenzhen

17 Jun 2016

Over 20 undergraduate and postgraduate students of Lingnan joined the “Youth Entrepreneurial Training Scheme” held in Longgang District of Shenzhen from 6 to 17 June.  The Scheme was initiated by the University’s China Economic Research Programme and co-organised by the University’s Student Services Centre and the Returned Scholars Entrepreneurial Institute (Shenzhen-Hong Kong).

The Scheme lasted for two weeks.  The first week featured training courses on starting up new businesses and interactive information sharing sessions by Lingnan’s outstanding alumni and entrepreneurs from various industries.  The training courses aimed to familiarize students with Mainland China’s environment for starting new businesses, preferential policies on startups and talents, as well as how to bring an idea into a business.  The interactive sessions helped students understand the fundamentals of starting a new business and the vital traits of startup entrepreneurs.

The students also visited Shenzhen’s high-tech enterprises and makerspaces, e.g. the Huawei group, Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub, Tianan Cyber Park and Taiyun Software Town. Through these visits, students learned about the rapid technological development in Shenzhen.

In the second week, students were assigned to different enterprises for internship, including Galaxy Holdings, Tomtop Technology Co Ltd and China Animation Industrial Park, providing opportunities for students to appreciate corporate culture and operations of startup businesses in the Mainland.
