Lingnan hosts forum to discuss local and Mainland competition policies

The University’s Centre for Competition Policy and Regulation organised the Lingnan Competition Policy Forum from 15 to 16 December on campus to discuss issues related to the competition policies in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

The forum was supported by the Competition Commission and our Department of Economics, and is one of the celebratory events for the 50th Anniversary of Lingnan University’s re-establishment in Hong Kong.  It focused on recent developments related to the Competition Ordinance of Hong Kong and the Anti-Monopoly Law of China.

The two-day forum assembled around 60 speakers and guests, and was kick started by the welcoming remarks by President Leonard K Cheng.  Distinguished speakers of the forum include Mr Yang Hongcan, Director-General of the Anti-monopoly and Anti-unfair Competition Enforcement Bureau, State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, The Honourable Mr Justice Godfrey Lam, President of Competition Tribunal, Mr Brent Snyder, CEO of Competition Commission, and internationally renowned competition policy scholars including Prof Huang Yong, Prof Wang Xiaoye, Prof Shi Jianzhong, and Prof Damien Geradin.  Others speakers including academics, legal specialists, economists, multinational law firms and industry professionals also joined the forum.
