On 5 February, Professor Bruce Cumings, Gustavus F. and Ann M. Swift Distinguished Service Professor in History and the College at the University of Chicago, and Vincent Woo Distinguished Visiting Scholar 2017-18 of Lingnan University, delivered a public lecture entitled “The Sources of North Korean Conduct”.

North Korea’s political behavior often seems as inscrutable. During the lecture, Professor Cumings offered an analysis of the logic of the North Korea and discussed whether the North could be contained over the long term with its new nuclear capabilities.  The lecture attracted around 90 participants, including guests from U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong and Macau, European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao, other UGC-funded institutions and Lingnan staff and students.
