Lingnan students join summer internship programme of The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce

Twenty-eight Lingnan students will participate in the 8-week “The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) Mainland Summer Internship Programme” in Shanghai from late May to July.  They will witness the spectacular development of Shanghai, and experience the lifestyle, work culture and business operations in the Mainland to broaden their horizon.

 

The Programme was kick-started by Dr Christine Choi, Under Secretary for Education of the HKSAR Government, CGCC Chairman Dr Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, CGCC Vice-chairmen Mr Ricky Tsang Chi-ming, Dr Wong Kwok-keung and Mr Tommy Li Ying-sang, Chairman of CGCC Education Funding Committee Mr Alfred Lee Tak-kong, Director of Student Services of Lingnan University Ms Jenny Ko and representatives of other tertiary institutions on 4 May at CGCC Hall.  Ms Kayi Hui (Social Sciences Year 2) of Lingnan shared on stage her remarkable exposure as an intern in Shanghai Museum of Glass last summer with her active involvement in the preparatory works for the Museum’s grand 5th Anniversary and her MC experience in the presence of the guests of the Netherlands’ consulates.  She attributed her personal development and successes to the unfailing support from the Student Services Centre in addition to CGCC’s sponsored internship and expressed her appreciation and hearty thanks.   

 

Prominent participating companies of the internship programme this year include Ascott Property Management (Shanghai) Co Ltd, SHK Corporate Management (Shanghai) Co Ltd, 4As advertising companies Wunderman/ Agenda Shanghai, Creative Technology Audio Visual Equipment Trading (Shanghai) Co Ltd, Modern Media (Zhuhai) Technology Co Ltd Shanghai Branch Co, Shanghai Museum of Glass; and the newly-joined companies including Knight Frank (Shanghai) Property Consultants Co Ltd and Swire Foods (China) Trading Ltd.  The companies offered diversified internship opportunities covering industries including accounting and finance, editing, human resources and administration, international investment, media, operations, public relations, project management, sales and marketing, shopping mall leasing and promotion, supply chain, and the rising field of creativity development.
