Lingnan University awards staff members for their outstanding teaching and service performance
The Teaching Excellence and Outstanding Service Awards Presentation Ceremony 2017/18 was held today (8 November) to honour dedicated staff members for their outstanding teaching and service performance.
The awards were presented under two schemes, namely the Teaching Excellence Awards Scheme and the Dr and Mrs James Tak Wu Awards for Outstanding Service (Staff Award). Awards under both schemes were presented on a biennial basis.
Objective of the Teaching Excellence Awards Scheme is to recognize and reward academic colleagues who have demonstrated outstanding performance in teaching. On the other hand, the Dr and Mrs James Tak Wu Awards for Outstanding Service (Staff Award) aims to recognize and reward staff members and students who have consistently demonstrated outstanding service to the University or community, particularly beyond the scope of their normal study or office duties.
This year’s awardees under the Teaching Excellence Awards Scheme are as follows:

In his address at the Ceremony, Vice-President Prof Joshua Mok Ka-Ho pointed out that inspiring and transforming students is one of the core missions of the University. “I am sure the teaching excellence awardees are great teachers who do not only impart knowledge to students but also cultivate the inquiring minds and touch lives. Many are mentors to their students, in academics as well as in life”, said Prof Mok.
He also expressed his appreciation to the recipient of the Outstanding Service Awards, Ms Serene Chu. Apart from being a dedicated long-serving staff who have consistently demonstrated outstanding service to the University, Prof Mok praised “her efforts in helping patients with rare skeletal disorders have inspired many to attest to the power of giving”.
