Fifteen High-Flyers visit Israel for a new experience

For hundreds of years Israel was known as the Land of Milk and Honey, and now the Israeli government is positioning the country to become the "World’s Innovation and Startup Nation" in the 21st century, especially in the area of ecosystem innovation.

Fully subsidised by Lingnan University, 15 outstanding Lingnan High-Flyers took part in an 8-day study tour to Tel Aviv from 26 May to 3 June to successfully conclude the Lingnan High-Flyers Programme 2019.

The students visited the Taglit Innovation Centre, Igudan Waste Water Treatment Centre, Knesset, Hebrew University and other landmarks to learn about the latest developments in local experimental and innovational industries, especially in the environmental protection sector.

They also had a chance to talk to the "lone soldiers" of the Israel Defence Forces, a Holocaust survivor, and the staff of Beit HaGefen - a social integration organisation in Haifa. Such experiences strengthened the Lingnan students’ awareness of global citizenship, and enabled them to learn more. Sponsored by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the Lingnan High-Flyers Programme was launched in 2018 as an exclusive and highly selective programme to attract high-achieving students with an entrepreneurial mindset and leadership talent.

The 2nd Lingnan High-Flyers Programme commenced last November. Fifteen teams submitted drafts of their entrepreneurial projects and explored ways of implementing their ideas. Their projects covered environmental protection, societal issues and mental wellness. Among the 11 finalists, the Embrace SEN (Special Education Needs) Students team won the Best Team Award. In addition, 15 team members were rewarded the title of Lingnan High-Flyers and received Executive Leadership Training Programme offered by Dale Carnegie Training together with this Lingnan-sponsored complimentary trip to Israel. Please click HERE for highlights of the Lingnan High-Flyers Programme 2019.
