JUPAS applications surge by 38% with Animation and Digital Arts topping LU’s programme choices

In the first round application deadline for the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) admission in 2022/23, Lingnan University (LU) recorded a huge 37.8 per cent increase in the number of applications, the most of the eight UGC-funded universities. Band A and Band B applications saw a significant 37.4 and 32.5 per cent boost respectively.
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Animation and Digital Arts programme, a new undergraduate course launched by the Faculty of Arts this year, was the most sought after LU programme, with 25 students competing for a place. The five most popular LU programmes in terms of applications from Band A candidates are as follows:

This year the School Nominations Direct Admission Scheme was well received and the nominated candidates will be invited for an admission interview.
Starting from the 2022 intake, the Faculty of Social Sciences will change to programme-based admission from the current broad-based admission. Six Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) programmes, including Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Health and Social Service Management, and Social and Public Policy Studies will be offered at JUPAS.
The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Global Liberal Arts programme will be remodelled as the Bachelor of Liberal Arts (Hons) in Global Development and Sustainability. Focusing on international skills through a multi-campus experience and a multidisciplinary curriculum, the programme teaches students to apply creative and critical thinking to development and sustainability challenges in the areas of political and social policy, business and economy, culture and community, and environment.
The Department of Translation has revamped its undergraduate programme into a new Translation, Cross-cultural studies, and Corporate Communication programme, which provides students with a first-class bilingual and cross-cultural education giving them the linguistic and cultural adaptability to pursue jobs in translation and related fields such as education, journalism, business administration, and public relations.
