LU launches internationally recognised professional development programmes for staff

Three of Lingnan's Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC)’s innovative professional development programmes have been officially recognised by the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) in the UK, the first university in Hong Kong to have achieved this.

Supporting Learning and Teaching at Lingnan (SLT@LU) offers a firm foundation for well-informed, reflective practice in a Liberal Arts higher education environment. Besides teaching staff, and postgraduate students with teaching responsibilities, other colleagues who directly support learning are welcome to join.

“Approaches to Learning Teaching and Assessment” (ALTA@LU) puts a primary emphasis on quality programme, course and assessment design, and is intended for teaching staff.

“Active Blended Learning Enhancement (ABLE@LU)” employs an experiential and action learning approach for teaching staff to demonstrate what it means to be an online learner, and how to develop blended learning approaches for students. ABLE@LU is a highly topical programme, relevant to both current and future higher education.

Dr Giles Martin, SEDA Professional Development Framework Co-Chair said “We're delighted to welcome Lingnan University to the international SEDA-PDF family following the accreditation of the programmes. These programmes provide a great opportunity for participants to develop and advance their practice, and include some interesting approaches and learning activities.”

SEDA is a highly respected UK professional association with a mission to promote the quality of higher education through educational and professional development for the benefit of students, staff, and the wider public.
