Prof Leonard K Cheng attends Tin Ka Ping Foundation 40th Anniversary event and discusses key education issues with local university heads

LU President Prof Leonard K Cheng and other heads of Hong Kong's public universities attended the Tin Ka Ping Foundation’s 40th Anniversary at the Convention Centre to celebrate its milestones and achievements. The well-known charitable organisation for cultural and educational development has contributed to China’s advancement and improved the quality of education since 1982.

 

In his opening speech as Heads of Universities Committee (HUCOM) Convenor, Prof Cheng expressed his deepest appreciation for the Foundation’s contributions to charity, and in particular to education. “On the Mainland and in Hong Kong, more than 190 schools have been made possible by generous donations from the Foundation and include kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools. In tertiary education, in addition to vigorously supporting the development of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas universities, the Foundation assists over 80 normal and comprehensive universities on the Mainland,” said Prof Cheng.

 

Prof Cheng thanked the Foundation especially for its generous support to Lingnan in areas ranging from institutional development to student fairs, teaching and learning supports, and student development activities.  

 

Prof Cheng also joined a universities heads’ panel discussion addressing key issues in local and overseas higher education.

 

Tin Ka Ping Forum
