LU organised Age-friendly CNY Mass Painting Event Age-friendly City Project Ambassadors coloured the Drago Cavallo to set Guinness World Record

Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President of LU (left 6 at front row), Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club (left 7) and Mr Simon Ma, artist and Chairman of DC Charity Foundation (left 8) together with 80 Project Ambassadors join the Age-friendly CNY Mass Painting Event on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, Renri (everyone’s birthday).

The Age-friendly CNY Mass Painting Event co-organised by the Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project professional support team of Lingnan University (LU) and the DC Charity Foundation was successfully held today (28 January). Joined by Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Mr Simon Ma, artist and Chairman of DC Charity Foundation,  more than 80 elderly and 30 teenagers expressed their creativity by colouring the Drago Cavallo sculptures, as well as set a Guinness Record under the “Drago Cavallo. Travel around the World” tour. The participants spread the messages of love and care through arts on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, Renri (everyone’s birthday) and fostered intergenerational harmony. The event is also part of the “Drago Cavallo. Travel around HK” tour. There were a lantern riddle game booth, photo booth and Wishing Tree. Mr Ma also wrote fai chun and distributed to the participants to spread festive joy.

 

In his welcome speech, Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President of LU, wished all participants lots of luck in the Year of the Rabbit, explaining “The Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project aims at promoting age-friendly concepts and intergenerational harmony so as to inject positive energy into the community. This ties in perfectly with the DC Charity Foundation’s vision of spreading positive energy to children who need proper care and attention, such as children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), physical disabilities, cancer and mental disorders through arts activities and the Drago Cavallo which serves as their guardian angel.”

 

More than 80 Project Ambassadors taking part in the event were presented with a Certificate of Participation –“Drago Cavallo. Travel around HK” and will set a Guinness World Record. After being professionally judged, their painted Drago Cavallo may be displayed in the “Drago Cavallo. Travel around the World” tour in Shanghai, Beijing, the Vatican, and more.
