To promote the development of the cultural and creative industries in the Qianhai Cooperation Zone, Lingnan University and The Authority of Qianhai hold the strategic cooperation agreement signing cum plaque unveiling ceremony.

Lingnan University (LU) and The Authority of Qianhai held the strategic cooperation agreement signing cum plaque unveiling ceremony for the establishment of the “Lingnan University Creative and Cultural Innovation Research Institute (Shenzhen Qianhai)” today (30 March) to promote the development of the cultural and creative industries in the Qianhai Cooperation Zone. 

 

LU is the first local university to set up an official institute in Qianhai. The Institute will establish a Qianhai-based think tank to carry out long-term and in-depth policy research on cultural and creative industries and youth development in the Greater Bay Area. 

 

The ceremony was held in Qianhai and Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President of LU and Mr Wang Jinxia, Deputy Director-General of the Qianhai Authority, signed the agreement, witnessed by Mr Huang Xiaopeng, Deputy First Director-general of Qianhai Authority and Prof Leonard K Cheng, President of LU  

 

According to the Framework Agreement, the Institute will launch a first five-year plan to promote innovation and development in the cultural and creative industries, nurturing talent, and sharing research finding to meet Qianhai’s need. The two main aspects of the plan are, first, to set up an international think tank to carry out independent and innovative research in areas of public policy, digital governance innovation, industrial research and development, and urban governance; and to promote them to other Mainland provinces and municipalities as well as the entire Asia Pacific region. 

 

Second, to establish the Qianhai’s School of Graduate Studies to nurture all-round talent and offer short-term certificate courses in fashion design, advertising, cultural creativity and city, cultural education and new media; as well as taught postgraduate programmes in these categories to ensure the continuous and abundant supply of able graduates for the cultural and creative industries.
