Jockey Club "We Care, We Serve & We Learn @ Tuen Mun" Programme Information

Jockey Club “We Care, We Serve, We Learn @ Tuen Mun” Programme is a 3-year programme sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust starting from the end of 2016. It aims to promote the concept of inter-generational collaboration and Active Ageing through working with different stakeholders including Government departments, non-governmental organizations, academia and business partners, and to create a cross-sectoral collaborative Service-Learning platform.

 

The key objectives of the program are to:
1) To work with community partners to address ageing issues in the district;
2) To train students to understand their roles and encourage them to be more innovate and involved in social entrepreneurship;
3) To strengthen the social responsibility of the university and share information with other Universities;
4) To facilitate network building among different stakeholders and S-L practitioners from HK and Asia to share the best practices in community engagement.

Project Plan (Nov 2016 – Nov 2019)

1) Service-Learning Projects Promote the Service-Learning and Research Scheme (SLRS) and facilitate cross collaboration between faculty members, students and community partners to build a better elderly services in the community, and to train students as future elder care givers.
2) Trainings, Forums and Symposiums Organize trainings, forums and symposiums that tackle community needs for different stakeholders to stimulate innovative ideas and facilitate community development.
3) Promotion and Education Work with media channels and release S-L Projects outcomes to promote the concept of care for the elderly and intergenerational collaboration.
4) Share Resources and Community Building Promote and encourage research that focus on elderly services. At the meantime, to provide useful information and trainings to stakeholders in order to create long-term and sustainable partnerships.
5) Establish Professional Collaborating Network Connecting colleges and universities from local and the Service-Learning Asia Network to build an online platform and provide S-L resources for capacity building.
