For the sake of broadening postgraduate students’ horizon and a deeper academic exchange, Professor Zhang Guangnan had led a team of teachers and students from Sun Yat-sen University’s (SYSU) Centre for Studies of Hong Kong, Macao and Pearl River Delta and Collaborative Innovation Center for the Cooperation and Development of Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China to visit Lingnan University from 9 to 11 December 2015.

In order to introduce the latest development of Hong Kong’s financial market and its urban planning, the team from SYSU had visited the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and City Gallery under the arrangement of Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Centre (PSEC). Following the visit, two meetings were held for the economic scholars and the research postgraduate students from SYSU and Lingnan University to exchange ideas and experiences in their research works. Professor Joshua MOK Ka-ho, Vice president of Lingnan University, Professor WEI Xiangdong, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and Director of PSEC Lingnan University, Professor LIN Ping, Head of Department of Economics, Professor HO lok-sang, Consultant and Senior Research Fellow of PSEC, and a number of staff and postgraduate students in the Department of Economics Lingnan University had participated in the meetings.

Professor WEI Xiangdong expressed that the academic exchange between the two universities could enhance mutual understanding and foster collaboration, which could benefit the development of the academic researches. Professor Zhang Guangnan, SYSU, remarked that this time was a research student oriented academic exchange. It also offered a valuable opportunity for the students to get familiar with Lingnan University’s Liberal Arts Education and the development of international economic researches. Since this mixed programme of site visits and ideas could increase students’ interest and knowledge simultaneously, the alike exchange tour would be held successively.
