Lingnan’s academic subjects align with top global standing

Lingnan University's encouraging results in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 show significant advances in international academic reputation. Of the academic disciplines from Lingnan University that are in the 2022 subjects, 50% improved their positions in the rankings.

Lingnan's Arts and Humanities, as a broad subject area, has jumped 44 places, and is now in the top 20% worldwide. In this subject area, Philosophy ranks 3rd in Hong Kong and 16th in Asia, and English and Literature has risen 50 places, a notable improvement in the ranking.

Social Policy and Administration, which has been qualified and nominated for evaluation by the global QS ranking framework for the first time, comes 9th in the Greater China region. Other universities in Top 10 in the region include University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University and Fudan University in the Mainland.

In Citations per Paper, Business & Management Studies is the subject in which Lingnan University earned the highest score (85.6).

These results reaffirm Lingnan's recognition in the Research Assessment Exercise 2020 (RAE), conducted by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee, where Philosophy and Social Work & Social Policy came second in Hong Kong in terms of percentage of research at "World Leading" standards.

QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 is an independent comparative analysis of the performance of 15,200 individual university programmes, taken by students at 1,543 universities in 88 locations across the world, across 51 academic disciplines.
