Academic Talks

葉劍豪 博士Dr. IP Kim Ho
Associate Professor of Practice
Wong Bing Lai Music and Performing Arts Unit
TOPIC: Creativity and Music
Synopsis:
The talk will explore the connections between creativity and music. It demonstrates that we are natural creators of music. Even we have not fully explored the potential of our musical talent, we express creativity through music and musicality in our daily life, and can learn to use music to stimulate our creative energies in non-musical areas. Creativity has also a much broader meaning compared to that of innovation. By re-discovering the past and traditions, including classical music by Mozart and Beethoven, it can help to transform our capacity to experience and think about music of our time. Last but not least, the talk will suggest examples of the variety of industries in which music and creativity play an important role. In so doing, we can reflect upon the significance of creativity in our personal and professional lives, and the value music can have in the social, economic and cultural development in the 21st century.
