Lingnan University Co-hosts 19th East Asia Social Policy Annual Conference in Sydney

Professor Ka Ho Mok, Vice President and Co-Director of the Institute of Policy Studies, led a team of social policy researchers to the 19th East Asia Social Policy Annual Conference in Sydney, Australia. The 2023 EASP Conference, themed"Sustainable Development and Social Policy in East Asia," attracted participants from diverse regions such as East Asia, the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, Australia, and Southeast Asia.

 

As a co-host of the conference, Professor Joshua Mok shared recent developments in social policy research during the event's gala dinner. The conference provided an opportunity for Lingnan colleagues to meet leading social policy researchers from around the world and explore potential collaborations to promote social policy research in the region.

 

According to the 2023 QS World University Rankings by Subject, Lingnan University is ranked 15th in Asia and 6th in the Greater China region. Forming research partnerships with leading institutions internationally will further enhance comparative social policy research. Lingnan colleagues presented their most recent research on diverse topics related to children's wellbeing, social service delivery, support for older persons, long-term care, and social work students' learning experiences.

 

Following productive discussions with the newly appointed President of EASP, Professor Mok and the social policy research team at Lingnan University plan to work collaboratively through the EASP platform to create more practice-oriented learning opportunities for young scholars in social policy, thereby enhancing their research and practical experience.
