Topic: The road ahead: Innovating in the liberal arts education with technology

Format: Focussed discussion with senior higher education leaders from liberal arts institutions

Interpersonal engagements and close faculty-student relationships are crucial in liberal arts education. The global pandemic speeded up the use of technology in teaching and learning activities. Online classes, distance mentoring and collaborative online learning activities (COIL) allow flexibility to engage faculties and students from a distance, facilitate innovative forms of activities and save costs, but in-person interactions are compromised. In a more inter-connected world that demands rounded talents to solve cross-disciplinary problems, the panel comprised of experts from liberal arts institutions will discuss:

  •  What impacts and opportunities have technology brought to teaching and learning activities?
  • What are the best practices to deal with the impacts and reap the opportunities?
  • How should technology be applied in the development of teaching and learning activities in liberal arts institutions?
