Staff Party 2023: Together We Celebrate A Significant Decade under President Leonard K Cheng

On 21 June 2023, Lingnan University celebrated a momentous milestone with a grand Staff Party 2023 at the Nina Hotel Tsuen Wan West. Over 650 staff members gathered to commemorate a significant decade of achievements under the leadership of President Leonard K Cheng.

The event commenced with welcome remarks from President Leonard K Cheng, followed by a toasting session featuring the senior management, including President Cheng, Professor S Joe Qin, President Designate, Professor Ka Ho Mok, Vice-President, Deans, and Associate Deans. Ms Sharon Tam, Director of Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer, and Professor Li Yiwei, Assistant Professor of the Department of Marketing and International Business, served as the lively Masters of Ceremony, who have done a marvelous job in bringing an enjoyable afternoon for all.

A highlight of the event was the screening of a special video titled"A Decade of Education – A Decade of Service", which showcased the incredible journey of Lingnan University over the past ten years under President Cheng's leadership and guidance, emphasizing the collective efforts of the Lingnan community in reaching new heights.

Expressing gratitude for the President's unwavering dedication, the Vice-President delivered a heartfelt note of thanks and encouraged colleagues to continue working together in the spirit of collaboration."The past 10 years was a significant decade, all of us work together to witness the growth of Lingnan and together we reach higher. Together we transform and go global. Together we define Lingnan and together we can be even more," the Vice-President said.

There was also a captivating music performance presented by Professor Ip Kim Ho, Head of Wong Bing Lai Music and Performing Arts Unit, and his team. They performed three heart-warming songs on traditional Chinese instruments, the Yangqin (楊琴) and Guzheng (古箏). In a touching tribute to President Cheng, the Vice-President and other senior staff joined together on stage to sing the classic song"The Moon Represents My Heart" (月亮代表我的心)”. The entire auditorium lit up as colleagues sang along, creating a truly unforgettable moment.

As a token of appreciation, a memory book filled with blessings and messages from colleagues was presented to President Cheng, capturing the affection and admiration of the Lingnan community.

The event concluded with the much-anticipated Lucky Draw, where 40 excited winners received prizes. The top prizes were presented by President Cheng, alongside the President Designate.

As the Lingnan community came together in celebration, the Staff Party 2023 was a powerful testament to the unity, hard work and dedication of all in shaping Lingnan University, and a fitting tribute to a decade of transformative leadership under President Leonard K Cheng
