Lingnan awards faculty members for outstanding research and knowledge transfer

Lingnan has honoured 72 faculty members for their outstanding performance in research and their contributions to knowledge transfer (KT). The combined efforts of the faculty significantly raised the quality of life of the community during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 academic years. The awards were presented at the Research and Knowledge Transfer Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony 2022. Lingnan has presented the awards since 2018.

“A number of significant awards were presented, namely the Research Output Excellence Award, the Young Researcher Output Award, the Research & Knowledge Transfer Fund Award, and the award for Government-Industry-Academia Collaboration,” said Professor Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice President of the University and Dean of the Graduate School. “I would like to extend my gratitude to our valued faculty members for all your hard work and dedication to research and impact.  Your commitment is pivotal as the university makes the strategic strides for further advancement.”

Professor Wong Yuk-shan, Chairman of the Research Grants Council, and Professor James Tang Tuck-hong, Secretary-General of the University Grants Committee, attended the ceremony as officiating guests. Andrew Yao Cho-fai, Chairman of the Council of LU, and the University’s President Leonard K Cheng, were also present. “In 2021/22, LU was ranked third worldwide for ‘Quality Education’ in the latest Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, and also achieved remarkable results in the UGC’s Research Assessment Exercise 2020. I have strong confidence that LU will be able to contribute significantly in all aspects of interdisciplinary studies,” Professor Wong said.

Professor Cheng praised the University’s successes in forging partnerships with government and industry, and its commitment to forming research collaborations. Professor Mok noted that the awards served as a reminder that Lingnan’s research is founded on a belief that the work the University carries out can lead to the betterment of society.
