Lingnan Partnering with the Best Social Sciences University in Taiwan: National Chengchi University (NCCU)

NCCU - Powerhouse of leaders in politics, public administration and the humanities

 

Founded in 1927 originally as a central education institution for officials of the Nationalist government in Nanjing, National Chengchi University (NCCU) relocated to Taiwan in 1954 after the civil war and dedicated itself to politics, jurisprudence, commerce and public administration. Over the years, the NCCU has broadened its expertise and developed into a highly esteemed liberal arts university renowned for humanities studies.  

 

The NCCU College of Education was established in 2002 to cultivate and develop the nation’s educators, academic leaders and researchers. At present, more than 150 graduates are high-ranking officials and senior administrators in the Ministry of Education and the City Education Bureau. The College was ranked in the top 150 in the educational field in the 2019 QS world rankings.

 

Award-winning campus home to thousands of public figures

 

NCCU is close to the Maokong area in the southern part of Taipei’s trendy Wenshan District, renowned for its scenery, tea growing and cultural activities. The campus, which has won a Taipei City landscape award, incorporates natural streams, modern and heritage buildings, and 10 signature landscape settings and vistas.

 

Educators Hu Hung-lik (胡鴻烈) and King Yeo-chi (金耀基), politician Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), former Taiwan First Lady Chow Mei-ching (周美青), tech entrepreneur Chiang Fong-nien (姜豐年), media magnate Ip Yut-kin (葉一堅), singers Wong Hing-Ping (王馨平) and Lin Yi-chen (林依晨) are among the many famous NCCU alumni. Literary giant Cha Leung-yung (查良鏞) also studied at the former NCCU in Chongqing.
