Professor Joshua Mok presents keynote speech at University of Manchester and Visit to University of Durham, UK

Professor Joshua Mok, Vice-President and Dean of School of Graduate Studies was invited by the Manchester Institute of Education to present a keynote speech entitled “Contesting Globalization and Rethinking International-Regional Collaborations: China’s Approach to Internationalization of Education” at the China and Higher Education Conference 2019 at the University of Manchester, UK from 9 to 10 December 2019. After the conference, Professor was also invited to give a Public Lecture sharing his recent research related to the Massification of Higher Education and Graduate Employment in China and East Asia. Professor’s speeches were well received and the conference and Lecture were well attended with over 100 participants. During his visit to the United Kingdom, Professor Mok also explored collaborations with the University of Manchester and the University of Durham, two Top universities in the UK. Agreement was reached between Lingnan University and University of Manchester for developing faculty and PhD student exchanges, international and comparative research collaborations, as well as dual PhD programme. At the University of Durham, Professor was warmly received by Professor Catherine Montgomery and Professor Chris Brown from the School of Education and Ms Jemima Lloyd, Assistant Director of International Office. Agreement was reached to developing Undergraduate and PhD student exchange, faculty research collaboration and exploring dual PhD programme. Colleagues from Durham will co-organize with Lingnan University for the Symposium on Higher Education in late March in London with University of Bath’s Centre for Research in Education in China and East Asia and Asia pacific Higher Education Research Partnership (APHERP).
