Hong Kong STEM Education Alliance (The Alliance), the STEAM Education and Research Centre at Lingnan University (The STEAM Centre), the Computer Network Information Centre of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers (HKFEW) organized a launching ceremony of STEAM Education Masters Series 2022 on 26 September. The Chief Executive, Mr. LEE Ka-chiu, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR, LU Xinning, Vice-President of the CAS, ZHANG Yaping, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR, Professor XU Kai, and the Secretary for Education, Dr. Christine Choi, were invited to officiate at the ceremony. The kick-off ceremony was simultaneously held in Beijing and Hong Kong.


Starting from 2019, the "STEAM Education Masters Series" aims to establish a platform to connect Chinese science experts with Hong Kong schools, and to promote students' interest in science and technology by inviting top scientists from the Mainland to give talks to Hong Kong students. To strengthen the interaction between science experts and Hong Kong primary and secondary schools, this year's "STEAM Education Masters Series" has set up the "Honorary Lecturers on Science Education" for Hong Kong schools for three years.

The first seminar was held immediately after the kick-off ceremony, with Prof Anthony YEH of CAS sharing his views on "Smart Technology and Smart City" with teachers and students. The event attracted representatives from educational organizations, school headmasters and teachers and students, with over 200 people in attendance.
