Welcome to the MA in Arts and Cultural Heritage Management dual degree programme. This is one of the only degree programmes in Hong Kong that combine research with practice in arts and cultural heritage management. Training in both fields will equip students with a range of skills needed for the fast-growing arts and cultural heritage sectors. Despite the massive demand, these sectors face a shortage of professionals who understand the interdisciplinary nature of both arts & cultural organisations and heritage assets.

As Hong Kong’s only Liberal Arts University, Lingnan offers an intimate and intense learning environment-which is difficult to find in most modern universities. Hong Kong is an ever-expanding urban region, which also has a strong awareness of the importance of its cultural heritage resources. It is also currently developing its arts & culture sectors, particularly through the West Kowloon Cultural District and M+ Museum. It thus provides a dynamic environment in which to study arts and cultural heritage management.

The art and cultural industries play a pivotal role in sustaining the prosperity of Hong Kong's economy. Digital technology enriches the expression of art and expands the boundaries of consumer demand. Against this context, three challenges emerge. First, the industry needs to integrate digital technology into artistic creation systematically. As a response, our programme aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with artistic accomplishment and capabilities of developing digital technology. Second, the industry requires artists to grow to be savvy digital users. As a response, our courses identify user-friendly digital resources that artists can directly use in their creations. Third, the industry strongly calls for a new type of management talents who can identify talented artists and have good knowledge of business operations. Other than appreciating art, they must be familiar with operational management, marketing, and information system management. Suppose you desire to be the professional mentioned above and join the art and cultural industry in Hong Kong. In that case, ACHM will be your ideal choice.

Lincoln is a great city in which to study arts, culture and heritage and you will be able to make the most of it during your second semester at the University of Lincoln: exploring significant cultural heritage resources and working with experts in the field. It offers the perfect opportunity to explore the contemporary challenges in the arts and cultural heritage sector. Like Lingnan, the University also has small classes and close supervision from lecturers and tutors, making it a very supportive learning environment.

Thank you for considering our programme, and we look forward to seeing you at Lingnan in the near future.
