Guidance for Lingnan Research Postgraduate Students on Course Taking
List of RPg courses offered by Lingnan University for Term 2, 2020-21
Cross-Institutional Course Enrolment Scheme
To enhance the opportunities for research postgraduate students to have access to courses and expertise at sister institutions in Hong Kong, the eight institutions (viz. City University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Education University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lingnan University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) that are offering research postgraduate programmes entered an agreement to set up mechanisms enabling research postgraduate students to enrol in courses offered by other sister institutions. * The application deadline is applicable to most courses. Some courses have deadlines ranging from 11 December 2020 to 27 January 2021.
For Lingnan Research Postgraduate Students
Before applying, please read the Guidance for Lingnan Research Postgraduate Students on Course Taking.
For students in Arts and Social Sciences Faculties: The maximum load for course taking is three courses per term, inclusive of all courses offered by Lingnan (including the mandatory course "RSSC510 Postgraduate Seminar" for Social Sciences students and the required course "RWTS510 Academic Writing and Research Methodology across Disciplines" for all new students) and other institutions.
For first year students in Business and Social Sciences Faculties: Students are required to complete respectively the mandatory "RBUS510 Research Methods in Business" and "RSSC510 Postgraduate Seminar" courses specifically designed for them. Existing students may also be invited to attend the courses. Enrolment in these two courses will be arranged for them in Term 1. Therefore, students concerned need not apply for enrolment in these two courses.
All new students are required to complete the course,"RWTS510 Academic Writing and Research Methodology across Disciplines" and they will be automatically enrolled into the course in Term 1.
(a) To Take/Audit Courses Offered by Lingnan University
1. | Lingnan students can apply for enrolment/auditing in taught courses offered under Lingnan’s taught postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. |

(b) To Enrol in Courses Offered by Other Sister Institutions
1. | Lingnan students can apply for enrolment in taught courses offered by the other seven sister institutions. Under the scheme, students should only take courses of direct relevance to their studies. Please visit the website of individual institution for relevant information including the list of courses available by clicking on the name of institutions in the table above. |
2. | Students admitted to study at a sister institution will be officially registered for the courses at the host institution, and are required to participate fully in the course, including completion of coursework and writing of the examinations. The course grades attained will be shown on Lingnan's transcripts. |
3. | To apply, students should: |

4. | Students will be notified of their application results by the course offering institution directly via email. |
5. | After successfully enroled in the courses, if students would like to drop the courses subsequently, the requests should be submitted via the School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University during the add/drop period stipulated by the offering institutions. |
For Research Postgraduate Students of Other Sister Institutions to Enrol in Courses Offered by Lingnan University
