Message from the Programme Director

We are thrilled to offer an interdisciplinary programme that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of urban affairs.

Located in the dynamic urban region of South China’s Greater Bay Area, our programme provides students with first-hand experience of how globalisation, economic development, demographic change, mobility, history, and culture have impacted and shaped city governance. In addition, partnerships with top institutions from around the world offer unique opportunities to learn from experts in the field and gain insights into the governance and development of cities worldwide.

Experiential learning is a crucial component of the programme. Field visits and hands-on learning opportunities enable students to engage with city governance professionals, community leaders, and stakeholders, providing practical insights into the challenges and opportunities of urban development.

Whether interested in urban studies, public policy, or social and environmental sustainability, our programme equips you with the skills and knowledge necessary to make a meaningful impact in your community and beyond.

MCG offers a concentration, namely Master of Cities and Governance (Environment and Sustainability), from the academic year 2022-23. Students enrolling in the MCG programme can choose to pursue this concentration.
