The School of Graduate Studies (GS) organised a small-scale orientation to welcome new Research Postgraduate (RPg) students on 30 September 2020, amid the Coronavirus pandemic.  Over 40 staff and students joined on-site and via video conference.

Prof. Joshua Mok, Vice-President cum Dean of GS, extended a warm welcome to the new students by sharing the achievement and the new development of the University.  Prof. Mok remarked, “Though we are all facing the unprecedented global health crisis, with concerted effort and faith, we could turn crisis to opportunities.”  Guests attending also gave their friendly welcome one by one.  

For the 2020-21 academic year, the University welcomes a new cohort of RPg students from 14 countries/regions. The University received applications from over 30 countries/regions for our Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, and 96.7% of applicants were international/non-local. Applications from 18 countries/regions for direct admission to our RPG programmes were also received, with 77% of these applications being non-local.

In line of the core value of"Research with Impact, Impact with CARE", the School of Graduate Studies actively engages research postgraduate students to co-develop a learning community, with both professors and students forming teams to conduct research of their interests. The School also provides different international learning programmes for students like the Lingnan-Oxford International Postgraduate Summer School, PhD overseas academic exchanges and organizes a series of seminars with leading scholars sharing their research from comparative and international perspectives with Lingnan students.
